About us
The aim of the project is to provide support to the genealogical aspirations of those researching their Essex ancestors.
Most folk assumed names at the time of the various Poll Tax rolls or were given names for the purpose by well meaning scribes. It is very possible that branches of a family came to be known under different surnames or variants thereof. Similarly ancestors may have assumed new surnames over time.
Testing is the only means to remove genealogical brickwalls where no records exist to link two families of the same surname.
In this sense testing is a most remarkable tool for the contemporary genealogist. As we are the 'living history' of our ancestors, we are ourselves the most complete record of our genealogy.
