Eadie surname
There are a wide variety of origins expressed for the name Eadie. Some argue for English or Scottish origins. Others argue that it originated in the Kingdom of Dalriada.

Some suggest that it comes from the old English pre 7th Century Eadwig, composed of the elements "ead" meaning "prosperity" or "fortune" plus "wig" "war". Others suggest that it came from Berwickshire in Scotland as William Ade of Inverkeithin paid homage in 1296 to Edward I. Yet again, others suggest that it comes from the Boernicians. This group was a founding race of the north of Great Britain and were a mixture of Picts, Scotti and Angles. They are mentioned as having existed around the year 400 A.D.
