About us

Many years have gone into the research into the history of the Doyne/Doyen/Doying family in this country going back to our original immigrant Francis Doyne/Doyen. We have been unable to find the parents or place of origin for our Francis who we first find in America in the early 1700's in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Various spellings have been found in records: Doyne, Doyen, Doying, Doin, Doyn plus several others. There are many with those names that we have been unable to connect to using traditional "paper" methods, and would like to prove (or disprove) relationship using DNA.
One of the known branches of the family that still uses the Doyne spelling was in Vermont and eastern up-state New York in the 1800’s and then moved to eastern Iowa; today they live in Iowa, Kentucky and Northern California.
The Doying spelling was initially used in Quebec province, Canada and spread out from there to, Central Canada and Michigan; today known family members live in many US states, such as Minnesota, Michigan, California, and Florida.
Some of the known connected Doyen’s moved to Vermont and Maine, while many stayed in New Hampshire. If you are a direct descendant of these Doyen’s, we would love to hear from you.
Actually, we would love to hear from anyone who is or may be a descendant of our first Francis. We have 5436 descendants for Francis in our database, many of whom are living today. Be assured that we do not post information on living people on the internet.
