Of the Irish descended participants, almost all fall into a larger grouping, or sub-clade called "NW-Irish", now also identified with the M222 SNP test. This dna grouping has been identified in a scholarly journal as associated with Niall of the Nine Hostages ... who was a brother of Fiachra (traditional ancestor of O'Dubhda).
Some descendants of Henry Doude closely match at 67 markers, showing that the descendants are related, and confirming the paper genealogy. Three descendants of Howell and James Dawdy also have closely matching results with 25 markers tested. The few differences will aid future researchers in determining branches for those who suspect a relationship, but do not currently have the "paper trail" to accurately demonstrate the line of descent.
