A brief history and aim of the DeWolff Project
This DNA project was initiated by Richard Lee Dolph and Carol Maginnis, DeWolf genealogists, with the aim of shedding light on the origins of Balt(h)azarDeWolf the founder of earliest DeWolf lines in North America. Several representatives of various European DeWolf lines were contacted to be tested as were representatives of Dolph, Dolf, and DeWolf(e) families in North America, some with known genealogies. The testing proved some North American genealogies accurate but was not conclusive regarding Balt(h)azar’s origins as no firm connections could be made with European DeWolfs at that time. The project went dormant and later both Carol and Richard died, although matches continued to be made as time went on and dna testing became more well known. I was made co ad-minister of the project just before Carol’s death but have not been able to give much attention to it. Now with help, I hope the project can be re-juvenated and continue with its original purpose, but also, hopefully be an aid to other DeWolf researchers in sorting out the various DeWolf lines.
