Welcome to the Cumbo surname project. Cumbo is not a common surname but its use can be traced to medieval times in both Malta and Sicily. One goal of the project is to determine whether people with the Cumbo surname and Maltese or Italian ancestry on their paternal line share a common genetic signature. If you can trace your Cumbo ancestors to the Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and all other U.S. states that make up “The South”, consider joining the Cumbo US South project.
