About us
The Conkin Surname DNA Project is new!
So far, all of our Y-DNA participants are from the United States and trace back to early Virginia, northeast Tennessee, and Kentucky. Both Group 1 and Group 2 descend from the ancient patriarch of Haplogroup R1b (the most common forefather of western Europe).
Ideally, we hope to eventually have participants from as many Conkin ancestors as possible. For Y-DNA testing, tests for direct male descendants of two (or preferably three) different sons of a male Conkin ancestor will allow us to establish a baseline DNA signature for that ancestor.
Is your Conkin family represented, yet?
