I initially became interested in DNA testing to fill in a missing gap in my family tree - but am even more enthusiastic now that I realize that this Conant DNA project can potentially benefit any Conant who wishes to participate.

My missing link is the parentage of my gggggg grandfather, Amos Conant, mentioned in F.O. Conant's book as one of the Conant's of undetermined origin. It was suspected that he was the son of Lot Conant or of Israel Conant, both of Concord, Massachusetts. Through this DNA project I have been able to ascertain that my father is not related to the other Conant members in this group and therefore either Amos was not a true Conant or there as been a break in the link with one of Amos Conant's descendants.

I look forward to sharing this group's findings with everyone who becomes involved and hope to break down many many genealogical road blocks for the Conant family.
