The current membership has been analyzed.  There are fourgroups defined from this analysis.

Group 1a - Includes much of the original group analyzed byWilliam 'Bill' G Churchill.  Bill believes that he had found a confirmedlink from Plymouth Colony ancestors and theDevonshire Churchills ca 1640s, and that these were descended from Gitto de Leon, Normandy before 960 c.e.  The earliest Plymouth ancestor is John Churchill d. 1663.  Any deviation between the Plymouth andVirginia Colonies is unclear based on the current membership.  Group 1a also includes Churchills from NovaScotia Canada which originated Lemuel Churchill b1723 in the Plymouth Colony.  

Group 1b – These matches appear distantly related to Group 1.  The probability of them being related toGroup 1a is lower than 60% at 24 generations or farther back, based on a TIPreport for 25 markers.

Group 2 – These matches appear to be related to a “Church”Surname line so far found in US.

Group 3 – These matches are loosely related but there isn’t anyclear grouping.  Some matches are closerthan others.  This appears to include OxfordshireChurchills, perhaps others.
