Elder John Chipman (1621-1708) was an early settler of Plymouth Colony. He married Hope Howland, the second daughter of Mayflower passengers John Howland & Elizabeth Tilley.

According to A 1920 Chipman Genealogy, this was the only Chipman family in what became the United States at least until the mid 1800s.
