About us

5/4/2021 new administration. Grateful to Dick Chase who started & administered this project. Last graphic summary had 4 men who had tested beyond Y12-Y25 to Y37.
Dialogue encouraged; great experience with searchability of a Facebook group, so that'll be 1st priority, with this project's "Activity Feed" as 2nd choice for those to whom Facebook is unacceptable.

Old administrators' message: Chase Surname DNA Discussions and e-mail of the CHASE-L@rootsweb.com group often centered on which of the three earliest Chase settlers (Aquila, Thomas or William) the members descended from. These brave men were amongst the first settlers to come to America. Were these three men kin to each other? Where did they come from? Who were their ancestors? Other Chase families later came to America. Is there a connection between these Chase families? Some of these answers may never be known! With DNA testing we have,  proven some of the following objectives: Descendants of Aquila and William have different DNA patterns--thus proving there is not a common ancestor. Proof that Aquila and Thomas were brothers (as we presume from documents in Hampton MBC where they first show up) is more elusive, and documented ancestor of Thomas has yet been y-dna tested. The major issue surrounding the brothers Aquila and Thomas remains to be their ancestry. While many family trees that are posted online continue to claim an alleged attachment to The CHASE family line that existed in Buckinghamshire, England, there never has been any valid documentation found that supports this claim. While we can presume that they probably did emigrate from England (Hampton was an English colony), no evidence has ever been found to indicate from whence they came.
