The purpose of this study is to identify the various Cate/Cates lines and to assist individuals in ascertaining their relationships to the various “blood lines” within the greater Cates family.
To this end, please submit your DIRECT LINE OF DESCENT (from your oldest proven Cates ancestor) to your project administrators &/or upload your Gedcom to your member page. Please include your Earliest Known (that is, proven) Ancestor on the "Plot Ancestral Locations" page (sample format, "Sampson Cates, ca 1803-1854, Edgefield, SC").
In Ysearch there is a NOTES field where you can add family lore regarding origins/connections, and speculated lines of descent
