About us
This project seeks to identify the relationships between the various CARDWELL lines as well as the historical and geographical origins of the name. If your name is CARDWELL or you think your paternal line may be traced back to a CARDWELL, I encourage you to take advantage of the preferred pricing for a Y DNA test.
• This project uses Y-DNA to help connect the different male lines.
• Is open to men and women who have tested their Y-DNA or autosomal DNA with FTDNA.
• Will be of interest to those who are either:
- a surname match or
- a DNA match.
If you have tested with another DNA company, you can transfer most results into FTDNA for free. Instructions are at this link: https://help.familytreedna.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402392808463-Autosomal-DNA-Transfers-Guide
While this is primarily a Y-DNA project, autosomal DNA test results of cousins (people who have CARDWELL family members in their family tree) are encouraged to join the project.
Surname variants include: Cardel, Cardwel, Cardwell, Carwell, Cordell, Cordwell
