Caposele and it's neighboring towns (Lioni, Teora, Contursi, Castelnuovo di Conza, Calitri and others) are situated in Avellino and Salerno provinces in Campania, Italy. Since the 1ate 19th century, like many southern Italians, many Caposelesi immigrated to North and South America, Europe, and some to North Africa. There is a great interest among today's Caposelesi del mondo to connect with their relatives and roots. This project is inspired by the work of he Caposele genealogy group, which used church and notary records going back to the 17th century to construct a family tree of the town. This project aims to supplement these efforts with genetic genealogy to trace the origins and identify the genetic signatures of Caposele's unique surnames.
