About us

Our primary goals are to use 25 and 37 marker comparisons of the Y-Chromosome to help us to sort major family branches, determine to which branch each larger family grouping belong and possibly resolve some open questions in cases in which an earlier family member might have been informally adopted. A new member may start at the Y-12 marker level, but our experience indicates that analysis at the 25 or 37 marker level is usually required to produce meaningful positive results.

Some potential benefits which might suit your personal goals are:
Check whether two people share a common ancestor.
Validate your traditional genealogy findings.
Find hints as to your family origins.
Find cousins who might go by a different surname, but match your genetic signature.
Prove a research theory.
Support the attempt to increase and preserve knowledge of your family history.

Privacy of the individual will be maintained as much as possible, but as a group endeavor, there must also be a sharing of information within the group. Also, if a person contributes a portion of the processing fee, they are also entitled to share in the results of the test.

In the event of a "match" the active participant will be presented with identity and address of the person with whom they match and vice versa by FTDNA; and the administrator is informed of the match for reporting purposes. If the participant wishes to remain anonymous at this point, they can arrange in advance for the administrator to be a middleman or gatekeeper for first contacts.

The administrator will also make sure the information is uploaded to Y-search for broader DNA matching.

We will do our best to present data in simple and generalized terms which protect the identity of living individuals. Individual DNA analysis results which are posted for comparative purposes will only identify the individual by Kit Number and earliest or most distant known ancestor, not by personal name of any living relative.
