The purpose of the Buckhead Settlement project is 3 fold:

1. To find and connect to cousins researching their family history or a particular surname associated with Buckhead

2. To understand the relatedness of cousins and aid family historians looking to answer questions about their family trees

3. To build a genetic and genealogical profile of the community to understand Waccamaw ancestry and geographically and how they relate to other Native American communities  

***This project is close to the general public and is only open to the Buckhead community and following surnames (and its variants).***
