Bracegirdle Project DNA

About us

The aim of this site is ask selected Bracegirdle men to do the test who have a direct relationship in their family tree, no matter how recent or how far back their tree goes.

By this we hope to see how all the various families are related and perhaps go back to the earliest known family members.

Most importantly, in the early part of the Project, we are looking for only
one man from each family tree to establish the link.  If this first test does not provide any links we may need to expand the testing.
The
111YDNA test  is the one recommended as this could prove the most useful.  Please note that registering and doing this 111DNA test through the Bracegirdle Project DNA will attract a discount.

We recommend this test as it is the most comprehensive.  Families may contribute financially for their testing males in the tree.

There are many Bracegirdle families scattered all over the world, many of whom do have proven trees.  Seeing what early links these family trees have to each other will help solve many puzzles.

There are two other tests which may be of interest.

The
mtDNA can be taken by anyone, male or female,  which can establish family links on the  female line.

The
atDNA  or Family Finder, could help to solve any recent family mysteries.   As Project Administrator I have several, and have ordered the mtDNA and atDNA  which may help our family tree.

We welcome anyone who wishes to take these two tests and contribute to the family information.

When testing, it is suggested that you tick "Project Members only" for results.  Please note that there is comprehensive information on the FTDNA site about testing which should answer any queries.  It is not a medical testing facility - if you need these tests there are other sites which provide that service.
