About us

Most of the persons in the US bearing the Boyette, Boyett, Boyatt, Boyet (and there are several additional variants) surname are believed to be descended from Thomas Boy(e)t who arrived in Virginia sometime in the late 1600's. There is also some disagreement as to whether Thomas arrived directly in this country from the UK, or whether he first landed in the Caribbean. Variants of the Boyett(e) surname exist not only in the US and UK, but also in other English-speaking countries, as well as France. As Thomas Boy(e)t's exact origins are unclear, the Project is interested in extending our project to those outside of this country in order to establish possible links to those bearing our surname abroad.
