This group project is to facilitate finding possible relationships between people with the Bone family name, or, any similar sounding family names, in their ancestry, by way of the Family Finder Test. For males who have the Bone family name, or a similar sounding family name, in addition to undergoing the Family Finder Test and joining this group project, it is also recommended, undergoing a YDNA-37 test, and joining the Bone Y-DNA Surname Project - see https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=BoneDNAProject - that group project is for, and, only for, males with the Bone, or, a similar sounding, family name, for researching their patrilineal family history, and, this group project is not set up to compete with that group project, but, rather to complement it, by providing for all people with the Bone, or a similar sounding, family name, in our ancestry, including people whose most recent ancestor with the Bone (or a similar sounding) family name, is a female, by way of the Family Finder Test. A similar Y-DNA family name project, is the Bones name project, at https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Bones that males with the Bone, or, a similar sounding, family name, may want to consider joining, and, again, this project does not seek to compete with that project, but, rather, to complement it, and, males with the family name Bone, are recommended to undergo both the Family Finder Test, to join this Group Project, and, the YDNA-37 test, and join those two projects, for more completeness of genealogical DNA research. For people to join this group project, two things are expected - the first, is to know that you have an ancestor with the Bone (or a similar sounding) family name, and, the second, is that you undergo, or, have undergone, a FamilyTreeDNA Family Finder Test (or an equivalent autosomal test, and have the test results imported into the FamilyTreeDNA database). Approval by the Project Administrator is not required to join this project.
