About us

Presently two participants descend from colonial families in Pennsylvania. Kit number 5580 descends from Nicholas Bobb who came from Germany and d June 1817 in Cumberland Co PA. We know that he was living in Cumberland County in 1795. The second participant 5666 descends from Peter Bobb b 16 Aug 1781 Beaver Twp Northumberland PA m Wilhemina Hassinger. We can see that the first two Bobb families tested are not related. The kit number 5580 shows a set of numbers that matches closest to others of I The I,lineages are nearly completely restricted to northwestern Europe. These would most likely have been common within Viking populations. One lineage of this group extends down into central Europe. The kit number 5666 matches closest to those of who are of R1b. Haplogroup R1b is the most common haplogroup in European populations. The results to this point show that the Bopp surname results have not matched any of the Bobb surname results, but our database is still small.
