This project was established to identify connections between various Blackburn families that were in North America at an early date with those in the British Isles. Before DNA testing, many had assumed that Blackburns from Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and other places had some far distant connection. DNA testing has disproven that assumption. The families appear to be very distinct. At least a dozen distinct family groups have been established and new participants are welcomed to see which group they might connect to.
