This group was established to connect descendants of and investigate the genetic genealogy of the African American Berry family from Mississippi to their origins back to Berrynarbor, Devon, England, including descendants of the following : Jim Berry (b. abt 1862 in Mississippi, d. 1951 in Yazoo County Mississippi) who married first Hannah Bossey (birth and death unknown) and second WillElla Wells (b. 25 Nov 1878 in Mississippi, d. 21 May 1965 in Yazoo County Mississippi) Jim Berry's parents were Peter Berry (b. abt 1810 in South Carolina) and Aida Guice (who went by the name Mariah). Peter Berry's parents are believed to have been Randal Berry (b. abt 1772 in Virginia) and Prudy (b. abt 1770). Randal Berry's parents are believed to have been Samuel Berry (b. abt 1750 in Virginia) and an unknown woman who may have been Powhatan Samuel Berry's parents are believed to have been James "Old James Berry" Cuttillo-Berry (b. 16 Sept 1693 in Virginia) and a woman named Mary James "Old James Berry" Cuttillo-Berry's parents are believed to have been John William Berry (b. 22 May 1650 in Virginia) and Mary Jewell-Cuttillo (b. abt 1670 in Virginia). John William Berry was a white man and Mary Jewell-Cuttillo was a mulatto (1/2 Ndongo, Huambo, Angola, African by her father Abram Cuttillo ; and 1/2 white through her mother Katherine Jewell-Pond). The paternal line prior to "Old James Berry" are believed to all be of British descent, originating from Devon, England...
