Les descendants de François Bélanger (né vers 1612 à Lisieux) et ceux de Nicolas Bélanger dit Catherine (né vers 1633 de Touques, Calvados) se trouvent maintenant en grand nombre partout en Amérique du nord. Étrangement, les deux groupes sont du même haplogroupe I1-M253 et nous observons une parenté lointaine avec d'autres familles normandes de la même région.
