Beers Surname Y-DNA Project
Welcome to the Beers Surname Y-DNA Project. The main purposeof this group is to connect men who share the surname Beers (Bears, Beer, Bere or some other variant) andhelp to find its origin.
I have been doing genealogy for over 30 years and began myBeers search with Mary Louise Regan’s six volume Beers Genealogy. My line is inthe 6th volume, New Jersey Beers. I descend from Jabez Beers(1722-1777) of Morristown, NJ, who is a possible but not proven son of BarnabasBeers of Fairfield, CT. Being that he is my 6th great-grandfather,autosomal DNA is of little use to prove connection to the main Beers familyline. It is my hope by collecting Beers Y-DNA, we can take Mrs. Regan’s workthe step beyond and connect all the disparate lines.
In addition, the origin of the family line and name isanecdotal. If all Beers men share a common male ancestor, is it one of the 3first colonist Beers who came over from England in the mid-1600s? If it does, where in the UK do we come from?
Please join this group and help us find the source of oursurname and family line.
