There are many Beams, Beam, etc. researchers that are interested in finding our native american heritage. This native american connection has never been proven. By checking the DNA on my male line I hope to prove or disprove this theory; at least for my ancestors. We are basing this assumption on an Indian custom of burial. Thomas J. Beams built a house over his wife Caroline's grave (she died in 1885, Hart County, Kentucky), saying he did not want the tombstone rained on. The tombstones look as if they were placed yesterday. The graves of Thomas and Caroline are on the farm they owned located in Hart County, Kentucky. My starting point is Thomas J. Beams, b. 1822, Kentucky; Fielding Lewis Beams, b. 1852, Kentucky; James King Beams, b. 1888, Hodgenville, Kentucky.Fielding Beams, Sr. is purported to be the father of Thomas J. Beams, in the will written by Fielding Beams in 1854 he refers to Thomas as his Step-Son.
