The Barnum family of England and North America is documented on the Barnum Family Genealogy website at www.barnum.org, a resource center for genealogical research. Our surname is believed to have originated in England as Barnham (about 1350) and confirmation of that link is one of the goals of this DNA project. The spelling of the surname was changed to Barnum or Barnam by the first few generations resident in North America and there are now members of the family living in many countries of the world. The Barnum Family Genealogy website now contains over 21,000 entries and any person sharing the Barnum surname is welcome to join this project.
