Hello! Being only 136 members, it's bound to be quite inactive. It's alive though.

Friends, there are currently two genealogy research projects on Facebook: Armenian Genealogy and Diyarbakir Research and Preservation. Please consider joining one or both to network with possible relatives and cousin matches. These are strictly genealogy groups that value scholarly and historical preservation.

Since I am very new, I have not started or managed any kits. However, I did want to start by comparing my kit with others.

This is a reply to Kirk Yousif's post (April 8th). I'm not able to attach a photo in the reply section however this was my percentage makeup (if that's what you were asking). My family's roots are from Baz, Hakkari. After the genocide, my family settled in Iraq and Syria.

Is this project engaged in any current research? There aren't too many members yet, but is there any incentive at this moment to find out any specific things concerning Assyrian/Syriac DNA and/or genealogy?

Hi All. I am a Chaldean born in Baghdad but family is from Mosul for a couple generations at least. I am wondering if anyone else's "MyOrigins" results look this strange or if it just me. can people post their makeup and say their background so we can compare? thanks all.

I think it is best to take these results with a grain of salt since they are estimates and based on limited reference groups for the region. As more and more people test these new groups will continue to evolve. We should encourage more of Assyrian heritage to test.

I agree. I got my sister in law to do the test and she came back 100 percent middle eastern. I am trying to get others to do it to increase our numbers on here

Hello! My kit (526217) has been confirmed to be J-P279+ (J2a2a), can you update my position on the list. Also, It seems quite likely that kit 59428 is probably J-P279+ as well, at the very least J-PF5050+ (J2a2), since he has a DYS447 deletion (<20), which is very common in, and almost exclusive to, the J-PF5056/J-P279 SNP marker.
