About us
The purpose of this project is to research the Aslan-Yehuda-Ma’tuk family of ‘Ana, Iraq and Baghdad, Iraq. The Aslan family’s patrilineal pedigree of named ancestors commences in the 16th century. The family lived in ‘Ana, Iraq for centuries and is regarded by historians of Iraqi Jewry as one of the oldest known Babylonian Jewish families. ‘Ana is traditionally understood as the site of Nehardea, the ancient city where the Babylonian Talmud was written.
