This project is seeking to connect with other yDNA testers who are descendants of the R-S1194 haplogroup and have the surname Arey. Richard Ayre/Airey/Arey born about 1620 is the earliest known ancestor of this lineage. He migrated to America from London's East End in the early 1640's. The first record of him is in a Salem Massachusetts court case in March 1646. He later settled in what became Martha's Vineyard. His descendants lived among and married into Mayflower descendant families. His progeny were thoroughly documented by R. V. Chamberlin.
