About us

Apgar family genealogists have been working for decades to identify descendants of the initial family immigrant(s)...now thought to be Friedrich Epgert and, possibly, his brother or cousin Johannes Peter Epgert. These two arrived in Philadelphia in 1740 and 1734 respectively. Frederick Apkert was one of a series of defendants in a NJ Supreme Ct case concerning illegal trespass in Hunterdon Co, NJ. This is definite proof that he was actually in the area where the Apgar family grew. No proof of Johannes Peter Apgard exists in NJ--or anywhere in America, except his landing in Philadelphia. DNA Genealogy seemed one way to find in uncertainties and develop a sense of ancestry from the distant past.
