About us

To gather geographic, ethnic and surname data pertaining to the Alatorre name specifically related to family patriarch Rosendo Alatorre (De La Torre) 1869-1955 who lived with his family in Los Angeles, CA. Additionally, to identify family relationships of heretofore unknown individuals who share the same lineage and/or surname. In a broader sense, we hope this will assist fellow geneologists of the Alatorre surname in their quest to locate and connect to their ancesters. All members of the Alatorre surname are encouraged to participate in this project. You can submit DNA samples if someone in your branch of the family has not done so.

Rosendo Alatorre (De La Torre) was born in the town of Sombrerete, state of Zacatecas, Republica de Mexico in 1869. He was deeply involved in the Mexican revolution in early 1900 and when he crossed the border after being defeated by the federalistas, he was captured by the US Army 8th Cavalry and was interned at Fort Bliss, Texas on January 10th, 1914. Later, he was transfered to Fort Wingate, New Mexico. His family waited for him in the zona Chamisal,El Paso, Texas and in 1928 the whole family moved to Los Angeles, CA where he had many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A few of his grandchildren are working on this project.
