Ancestors are known to have originated in the area of Beek, Gelderland, Netherlands and Elten, Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, i.e. along the Dutch/German border. Other members originate from the Osnabruck area of Germany.
Known US descendants are of Gerhard Abbing who settled near Potosi, Wisconsin in the 1850s.
