About us
It may be unusual but some people with predominantly European Ancestry
present MT haplogroup A as part of their genetic make up.
The possibilities of how this has occurred are as numerous as the geographic locations
in which haplogroup A is found in larger concentrations which range from Kamchatka in the East
to Alaska in the west with many points in the "inbetween".
As this is a major haplogroup project, it is join by request in the hope that this will keep the aims and goals of the project focused.
Eligibility
1) Must have tested positive for one of the many subclades of MtDNA haplogroup A
2) Residence in a European country OR Heritage in a European Country
European defined as far East as Turkey, The Caucuses , Tartarstan
and as Far west as Greenland, Iceland and Eire (Ireland)
3) Although in the long run people of Eurasian/Asian decent ie Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and points further east :
Mongolia and the eastern Russian Republics (for example Siberia Kamchatka Yakutsk ) would
be better served by a separate project they are welcome to join here also.
Aims
A signposting and discussion area to help people uncover their Ancestral origins.
Many groups could have been vectors for bringing Haplogroup A into Europe
and as such no group is excluded , or is the project set in a particular time frame.
The migration of south east asian mariners are as relevant as those of the Hunnic and Mongolian Empires
and the interaction between Europeans and the First Nation and Amerindian Founder nations of the Americas.
There is also the possibility that a subgroup of haplogroup A migrated "back" into Europe
in a similar way to Mt DNA haplogroup X .
