About us
BOONE: Judy Swann Boone My paternal surnames are with Williamson Co. connections are: Burkhart, Mifflin, Ogles, Orr, Owen, Swann, Wright My maternal surnames are Gossage, Hardwick, Hart, Jernigan, Rainey, Reynolds, Robertson, http://www.boone-dna.com/Results.htm www.boone-dna.com Online DNA Project Many Boones are descendants of Daniel Boone directly, but most are from other Boone lineage who came to America during the colonial times and later. Family lore may not always be accurate, and it can be a major task to prove a lineage at times because so many early records have been lost to fire and wars. The Y-chromosome results can be valuable in providing your biological descendancy. The testing laboratory will be analyzing 12 different markers on the Y-chromosome between male Boones. If the Y-chromosomes of two tested individuals match, it will indicate they both descend from a common male Boone ancestor. It will not identify the specific ancestor, just that they share a common male ancestor. Kenneth Andrew Boone DNA Testing # 2118 Results are the results of Kenny's DNA test which was done in 2002. The these did match though,12 out of 12 markers. One, #2118 lives in Missouri and his lineage is documented back to Edward Boone, brother of Daniel (1734-1820) the Pioneer. These three participants, # 2118; # 2397; and # 2654, matched all12 out of 12 alleles. Participant #4035 already had his paper genealogy researched back to Daniel Boone (1734-1820) and his DNA matches exactly #2118,#2397 and #2654, 12 out of 12 markers. Participant #2397 lives in Florida and his lineage is documented back to Daniel Boone, the Old Pioneer. (1734-1820). Participant #2654 lives in California and his lineage isdocumented back to George Boone IV, the uncle of the above Daniel Boone. George IV was born in Devonshire, England in 1690, and arrived in America in 1714,along with other Boone family members. Participant #4035 already had his paper genealogy researched back to Daniel Boone (1734-1820) and his Y-DNA matchesexactly 12 out of 12 markers to #2118; #2397; and #2654. #4035 had the extended DNA Plus test for the extended 13 markers and the results are reported above. Participant #5155 already had his ancestors documented back through Israel Boone, an older brother of Daniel. He is an exact 12 out of 12 match to the others in this same group. Participant #7519 had researched his ancestors back to only his great-grandparents. His Y-DNA matched 12 out of 12 markers to the George/Daniel Boone line. He will probably have the extended DNA Plus test for the additional 13 markers to help narrow down the generational span to further him in his research to find his particular ancestor in this group of Boone's. His results have been received and he is now an exact 25/25 match to all the others in the George/Daniel Boone line. It appears this line doesn't have ahigh mutation rate. Participant #7519's ancestors are documented back to Thomas Franklin Boone and Hanna _?_ in MO or KS about the mid-1800's, and if anyone has knowledge of this family, please contact the project manager at the e-mail address below. Participant #12001 already had his paper genealogy researched back through Daniel Boone's son, Daniel Morgan Boone. His Y-DNA scientifically verified that he is indeed descended from the George/Daniel Boone line. Participant #13065 is the last male in his line of Boone's. Although his family tradition said he was related to the Daniel Boone family, he had not been able to take his paper research further back than the early to mid-1800's in Missouri, and it was felt this was the best way to finally have the answer to their family tradition. His Y-DNA results show that he's an 11 out of 12 marker match to the other group of 12/12 matches in the George/Daniel Boone line. Themis-match is located at DYS 439 which is recognized as one of the fastest moving markers. It would be beneficial to #13065 to upgrade to the DNAPlus for the extra 13 markers to help estimate the generational time frame between him and the others in this group. The additional markers (for a total of 37markers) for #13065 show a mis-match at DYS 464a, which is another fast moving marker. He is a 23 out of 25 match to the George/Daniel Boone line and he does belong in this group. Currently, there is no one else in this group that has the 37 markers for comparison. The first five participants in the above group, did not know each other before taking part in this Boone DNA project, and they lived in different parts of the United States. But, their Y-DNA still matched exactly with one another, 12 out of 12 markers and along with their paper genealogy research, we can now say with confidence that the George/Daniel BooneY-DNA line has been established and verified. The last participant, #7519didn't know his early ancestors, but he is a 12/12 match to the others in this group. As of February, 2004, none of the above participants that descend from the Daniel/George Boone lines, knew each other before taking the Y-DNA test.
DAVIS: [Bob Davis, Wyoming, 2000]"Confirmation of the marriage of David Davis Sr and Catherine Allison appears in the Marlboro County, South Carolina deed records dated 4 Jul 1805where it is stated that "Hezekiah Allison, brother of Catherine Allisonand appointed administrator of their father's estate paid to David Davis and his wife Catherine Allison of Montgomery County, Tennessee the sum of $100.00for a parcel of land on the Pee Dee belonging to Joseph Allison, deceased and said Davis and wife as one of the heirsof the deceased convey their title, rights to said parcel..." (Marlboro County Deed Book G1, p 3) Their early arrival in Tennessee is noted by Juneau Morron who wrote, "While log houses with puncheon floors were being erected more settlers came to people the wilderness. John P Vaughn, DAVID DAVIS, Gulley Moore, Guthridge Lyon, Tom Sutter, John Nebblett Sr and Benjamin Whitehead settled on Budds' Creek " (Morron, HISTORICAL NOTES OF CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE, 1784-1865).There is no evidence that David Davis served in the military or received any land grants. His first land purchase of record in Tennessee was from James Glasgow dated 22 Apr 1791 for228 acres on the south side of the Cumberland River on the headwaters of BuddsCreek .(Montgomery County Deed Records Book B). Another land purchase is recorded for 44 acres on the headwaters of Budd's Creek on 20 Jan 1800 and later sold to Christopher Thomas in 1806 (Deed Book D and H). Montgomery County History by Goodspeed refers to a deed in1802 for 320 acres for $200.00 ,part of a 640 acre tract sold to Nichols Conrad in 1793, on the headwaters of Budd's Creek.
The deed description of that transaction reads as follows:
"This indenture made this 22nd day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and two between J.M. Heyde of the county of Montgomery in the state of Tennessee on the one part and David Davis of the county and state aforesaid of the otherpart witnesses that the said John M Heyde for and in the consideration of the sum of $200.00 to the said John M Heyde in hand paid by the said David Davis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has given, granted, bargained, sold, assigned and confirmed and by their presence doth bargain and sell unto David Davis, his heirs and assign forever 320 acres of land situated and being in the county and state aforesaid, on the south side of the Cumberland River on the head branch of Buds Creek beginning at two poplars on the south boundary ofCapt.Samuel Bud's tract of 3,840 acres thence East 320 poles to a Black Oak thense 160 poles to a Post Oak and thence 320 poles back to the beginning. All the state right, title, interest in the property. October 22, 1802". (It should be noted that POLES and CHAINS were measurements of length used by surveyors of the time. A chain was made up of 100 links and equaled 66 feet. A pole measured 16 and 1/2 feet or 1/4 Chain).
In 1808, 100 acres was assigned to David Davis and James B Davis located on the Little West Fork of the Red River,(Deed Book I). See 1877 map of Montgomery County and enlarged insert of Budds Creek area showing lands held by H Davis (Hezekiah) on which his father David had lived earlier.
In addition to raising ten children David Davis was appointed guardian on 23 Jan 1818 of two minor children, Minerva and William Lewis Lowther whose parents were John W and Nancy Lowther of Montgomery County (Wills and RecordBook I ). These children are numbered in the Davis household in the 1830 Montgomery County census.
Record Book H, Oct term 1838 notes that Solomon Hunt, Hezekiah Davis and Charles Baily were bonded for $2000.00 to administer the estate of David Davis deceased. A lengthy list of purchasers and property is shown on pages 245-247 and notes the sale date of 20 Oct 1838. Those who bought at the sale were W R Eads, Abraham Baggett, Andrew Davis, Joe Ussery, W R Wyatt, Edwin Williams, William Baggett, Solomon Hunt, Jesse Baggett, Sterling M Neblett, Henry Lyle, T P Bagwell, Peter Laird Ussury, Joseph Davis, W J Wall, ThomasDavis, J.P. Vaughn, Nathaniel Wickham, David Davis, Oliver Davis, and Hezekiah Davis. All or most of them lived on the south side of the Cumberland. The balance of the sale netted the estate $302.68, excluding the land.
Sons, Thomas, Joseph, son-in-law William Baggett and daughter Bersheba Williams each later sold to son Hezekiah Davis their share of David Davis' land described as two tracts of 100 acres and 320 acres each located on the south side of theCumberland River on the headwaters of the west fork of Budd's Creek where David Davis formerly lived. (Deed Book #2, 26 Jul 1853) Son David Jr. who settled in Williamson County, Illinois sold his share to Hezekiah Oct 21, 1850 (Williamson County Deed Book C, p.178)
The children of David and Catherine pursued livelyhoods as farmers like their father. Hezekiah, had purchased land adjacent to his father and he remained in Montgomery County. Following Andrew's death he purchased the sibling's share of their father's land. Sarah, David Jr , Oliver and their spouses made their way to Southern Illinois. Bersheba and John married brothers and sisters and moved with their spouses to Lauderdale County, Tennessee and Susan Margaret, Thomas and Joseph remained in Montgomery County. It is believed that Catherine lived to 1840 and perhaps beyond but no verifying death records exist from either the local Davis Cemetery or the Methodist Episcopal church which is believed they attended."
MURPHY: Charla Murphy DNA testing has been performed on descendants of Solomon and Bazil Murphy with a 12 marker exact match and a 25 marker match with a distance of one. Bazil Murphy was born 4 Oct 1822 in Alabama and died 25 Dec 1896 in Williamson County, IL. Shows up in his own household with wife Margaret Travelstead in 1850 in Saline County, IL. I believe Bazil's father is John C. Murphy and his mother is Polly Murphy, possibly nee Corder, b. abt 1790 VA, sister is Polly Murphy who was born abt 1832 in IL and married Jesse Abney 21Nov 1852 in Saline County, IL. The mother and sister are in the 1850 Williamson County, IL Census in the household of Solomon K. Murphy born 8 Mar 1819 in Alabama and married Elizabeth West 10 Mar 1843 in Williamson Co, IL. He died 14Jul 1901 in Pope Co, AR. I also believe that his other siblings could be Jamesb. 1825 who married Mary Butts 30 Nov 1841,James and Solomon went to MO and Solomon onto Arkansas. Louis/Lewis C. Murphy b. abt 1817 in Ala and lived in Saline Co, IL and possibly William Berry Murphy b. 24 Jul 1814 in TN and died12 Jul 1886 in Williamson County, IL. Would like any Murphys who might belongto this group to test also. Newest DNA Murphy match to Bazil and Solomon as of May 2005. Thomas L. Murphy b. 1826 Graniger County, TN, d. aft 1900 Benton County, TN. Had a son Thomas Martin Devalquit Murphy b. 1856 Polk Co,, MO, d.1920 Benton Co., AR.
SANDERS: Charla Murphy DNA testing has been done on the Luke Sanders line. Luke was one of the Seven Sanders Brothers who came from Robertson County, TN to Williamson County, IL. The father of these men was William Sanders and wife Mariah/Mary. Otherlines that need to be tested are: Jacob Sanders 1802-1863, Joseph Sanders1804-1878, Isaac Sanders 1808-1887,Jesse Sanders 1814-1877, Simeon Sanders1818-1863 all living and dying in Williamson County, IL and Richmond Sanders b.1813 and died 1882 Commerce, Scott Co, MO and William Sanders 1811-1894 placeunknown to me. I believe, but have no proof at this time, that William had brothers Robert who married Judith Maxey and James C Sanders who married Cynthia Gent. James died in Stoddard County, MO in 1846 but his children were then raised in the homes of William's children in Williamson County, IL. Jameshad sons: James Tazwell Sanders, Andrew Jackson Sanders, Isaac Jasper Sanders and John Colen/Calvin Sanders. Possibly one other brother to William is Andrew Sanders who married Lucinda Riley Gent. If there are ANY Sanders male descendant who would participate in this study perhaps we can prove or disprovea connection.

SeventhGeneration (speculation) Samuel WALKER was born before 1726. He died before Jul1798 in Caswell County, North Carolina. Samuel married Elenor (--?--). Will Oct. 28 1797. Caswell County, NC. Recorded in Book C pg 320. In letter from Helen: NOTE: Era Stinson found at the Robertson Co. courthouse a James Walkerwho had a son named Samuel born in 1731 according to a note from Helen Keyser. I didn’t find anything in the archives to support this but they admitted they had lost most of the early records which covers most of the time the family lived in the area. From the DNA tests we do know that this line does notconnect with the Thomas Walker or the Wigton Walker lines. There has been only one exact 12 Match with another Walker, a descendant of Francis Marion Walker who is in the 1860 Williamson co, IL census. At this time, it is unknown how this Walker connects to the line. He does not appear in the two known Walker genealogies that deal with this family.
