Description
This project is to facilitate finding possible relationships between people with Busby name ancestry, and possible links between family lines with variants of the spelling of the name Busby, such as Busbee, Busbey, Busbice, Busbie, Busby, Busbye, Buschebi, Bushby, Buskebi, Buskeby, Bussby, Busseby, Buzbee, Buzby, Buzzebia, etc, or, any family name that sounds like one of these family names. So, if you have ancestry involving any of these family names, or, a family name that sounds like one of these family names, you are welcome to join the Project, in order to find possible relationships through DNA testing, regardless of your gender. However, we would like for as many males with one of the above family names, or, a family name that sounds similar to one of the above family names, to undergo a 37 marker Y-DNA test and join the project, as possible, and, as many females who have ancestry involving one of these family names, or, a similar sounding family name, within the last five generations, to also join the project, with a Family Finder Test.
Females are recommended to undergo a Family Finder Test, and males are recommended to undergo both a Family Finder Test and a 37 marker Y-DNA Test.
The Project Administrator believes in inclusivity, rather than exclusivity, so does not require to approve applications for membership, and does not require prospective Project members to prove eligibility to join the project.
Apart from the above recommendations, no requirements apply to joining this project.
Requirements
A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. They are of the most interest in cultures where surnames are passed on from father to son like the Y-Chromosome. This project is for males taking a Y-Chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) test. Thus, the individual who tests must be a male who wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, Y-DNA67, or Y-DNA111 test and who has one of the surnames listed for the project. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA. Females who would like to check their father's direct paternal line can have a male relative with his surname order a Y-DNA test. Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNAPlus test or the mtFullSequence test and participate in an mtDNA project. Both men and women may take our autosomal Family Finder test to discover recent relationships across all family lines.
