It has come to my attention through DNA testing and some additional information that the Nusli and Knusli lines (both from Switzerland) are two different lines. The DNA results for the Nusli line indicate a R1b1 DNA haplogroup and the Knusli line a J2b2 haplogroup. The separation is clear with the Knu and Nu starting of the name. However, I have found the Nicely name used by both lines. So I will continue to serve as the Administrator of both lines.
At the current time the Knusli name starts with Heini Knusli born ca. 1347 in Kirchberg, Switzerland. We have a long list of names in Switzerland born after Heini's occurrence but are not sure if they are relatives or ancestors. Of the people who tested in this group they are of the haplogroup J2b2. The Crow and Whitecrow surname belongs in the Knusli group since these names were the result of a Knusli family member being raised as a Native American. Prior to the development of the name the J2b2 DNA haplogroup was found in Anatolia 15,000 to 22,000 years ago. Then later in the Fertile Crescent (Bible) area about 10,000 years ago. Our Y-DNA has been linked to Aaron of the Bible and we are his descendants. Our ancestors were the principal group who moved from being hunters and gatherers to begin farming about 10,000 years ago. Our DNA spread from the Fertile Crescent area to both north and south of the Mediterranean Sea. There were 2 groups that spread out to other lands. These were farmers and the other large group was the Hebrew group of which we were members. The Knusli group could have moved into Switzerland over the Transalpine trade route was built in 1290 AD or may have come from a group of Hebrews who came by boat to Spain and were later persecuted and they moved into different areas of Europe. The first appearance of the Knusli name was in Kirchberg, Switzerland when it appears with a Heini Knusli b ca. 1347 along with 3 sons.
The Nusli name starts with Martin Nussli in 1520 in Kaltbrun, Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Of the people who tested in this group the Haplogroup was R1b1.
There was some cases where both the Knusli and Nusli family members were living in the same area at the same time, but I have not found any instance yet where they intermarried. The R1b1 DNA haplogroup was the primary group who settled western Europe. The Celts were the first large group to settle in Switzerland and the Nusli group most likely evolved from this Celtic group.
If you have any of the indicated or similar spellings, a DNA test will probably define you as part of one group or the other and the male will have an Anatolia bump on the skull where the spine enters the skull. .
