Le projet d'ADN Savard est issue d'une étude poussé sur les origines de la famille Savard originaire de Montreuil sous Bois (93) près de Paris, et qui a essaimé toute l'Amérique du Nord à partir de 1662 (http://savart.info). La famille Savard ou Savart est présente dans l'est Parisien depuis au moins le 13e siècle, et est déjà très nombreuse au 16e, tellement que la branche canadienne bloque toujours vers 1570 à cause des homonymes multiples. Mais les SAVARD DE PARTOUT, et de toutes souches sont invités à participer à ce projet pour recouper les parents et identifier toutes les souches possibles à travers la France.
Le "Projet ADN Savard" vous recommande de procéder initialement par un test ADN-Y comprenant au moins 25 marqueurs (25-marker Y-DNA test). Par expérience, 25 marqueurs fournissent une base solide dès le départ pour que les comparaisons à venir présentent une certaine pertinence, et que vous soyiez dans l'obligation d'ajouter des marqueurs additionnels par la suite, comme le font d'autres projets patronymiaux.

The Savard DNA project stems from an ongoing in depth study of the Savard family from Montreuil (93) near Paris that settle North America fropm 1662 (http://savart.info). The Savard family is present in the towns east of Paris as early as the 13th century, and become so numerous by the 16th century that the Canadian line hits a brick wall around 1570 because there are too many homonyms. SAVARDs FROM EVERYWHERE are welcome to join in to establish relationship within relatives and identify and study the different roots of the name across France or elsewhere.
The Savard DNA Project suggests that you begin with the 25-marker Y-DNA test offered by Family Tree DNA. This will be our standard. It will initially provide more in-depth information on relationships. It will also eliminate the necessity for the upgrade from the 12-marker test which many participants in other projects have elected to do.
However, if any of you wish to begin with the 12, 37, or 59-marker test for any reason you may do so.

Voici les buts principaux du projet ADN Savard:
- Identifier les différentes souches du nom et leurs origines.
- Débloquer l'ascendance des Savard Canadiens avec l'aide de candidats français qui peuvent (ou à qui on peut aider à) retracer leur généalogie à Montreuil au 17e siècle.
- Confirmer ou valider des généalogies ou filiations établies ou hypothétique.
- Identifier les autres souches par adoption, naissance illégitimes, ou par standardisation de nom (Savary ou Savaria transformé en Savard?).
AVERTISSEMENT, bien que rarement, parfois les résultats peuvent dévoiler une toute nouvelle réalité, qu'il faut être prêt à accepter. Il y a normalement un infime pourcentage de naissances illégitimes non déclaré par la mère, qui ici seront démasquées comme il se doit. D'autre raisons peuvent expliquer un tel dérapage, tels une adoption passé sous silence, un bébé abandonné, etc. Au travers le projet associé FrenchHeritage, les "adoptifs" trouveront peut-être leur patronyme d'origine, comme à l'inverse des Savard d'origine qui ont muté en autre chose sans le savoir.

Here are the main goals of the Savard DNA Project:
- Identify the different origins of the name and their branches.
- Breakthough the brick wall past the ancestor of the Canadian line, whith the help of French Savard descendants that can trace their lineage to Montreuil.
- Confirm or validate established or hypothetical lineages.
- Identify other alien branches, either from adoption, illegitimate births, or name standardisation (Savary/Savaria to Savard?).
WARNING, Although rare, by taking the test, you run the chance of learning a new reality that you have to be ready to accept. Normally, there is a infinate number of illegitimate birth that are never declared, but will be unmasked here. (Unless the real father is a Savard from the same family as the declared father). There might be other reasons for the creation of these "alien" branches, such as an adoption that was kept quiet, an abandonned baby, etc. Through the associated FrenchHeritage project, we may even find the original name for those cases. As well we may find Savard lines that mutated to something else for similar reasons. |

confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have
been predicted by Family Tree DNA based on unambiguous results in the
individual's personal page. This has been placed on this GAP page for your ease
and convenience. Please note that for any predicted results we see no reason for
ordering a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. if a – is in the HAPLO field then
we feel that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous and if the
kit holder wants to know their SNP with 100% confidence they may consider
ordering a SNP confirmation test.
