Project News
We have now received back the second test, and this was a big surprise, since it revealed a completely different haplotype from the first test. This means that the two men involved do not descend from the same Piggin forefather, though they both have ancestry in England.
The haplotypes finding implies that all future DNA tests of Piggin(s) men will fork into one or the other group. It may be that there will turn out to be three or even more groups. We just don't know yet, so it is urgent for other Piggin, Piggins and Piggon men to join us at get tested.
Family Tree DNA has made a special discount offer for July 2009 only to do the 37-marker test for only $119 instead of the usual price of $149. Order your test kit before the offer expires. Click on the "Request to Join This Group" link in the blue sidebar on the left. Enter your address and other details, and the group administrator will arrange the cut-rate deal.
We have also established a Piggin General Fund to accept donations in any currency via credit card or Paypal. These funds will be held in trust at the testing company, and only used to sponsor test kits for those key males who would otherwise be unable to afford the cost of testing themselves. We encourage you to make a donation.
If you choose to sponsor rather than test yourself, please click on the last link on the left, entitled "Contribute to the Surname Project General Fund". Please specify "Piggin Project General Fund" in the top box of the Donation form. You should also follow the "Request to Join this Group" link so you can see the scientific findings, but will obviously not need to order a test for yourself.
