All donations will be used to provide free test kits for the Moctezuma nobility residing in Spain so that they can provide a sample of verified Moctezuma DNA for the rest of us to test against.

Most of the Moctezuma family resettled in Spain after the conquest, and became members of the aristocracy of that country. Around 1700 a Moctezuma returned to New Spain as the new Viceroy.

Welcome to the regal Moctezuma Project!

Our goal is to confirm our imperial ancestry. Whether our last name is Moctezuma, or not, if we descend from the Aztec Emperor our aim is to corroborate our beliefs and family legends.

It is our hope to test a verified member of the Montezuma family to compare our DNA against. Most of the descendants of Montezuma II left Mexico for a life in Spain as members of the aristocracy, where they remain today as prominent nobles.
