Mennonite (Anabaptist) DNA Project

Project Background:
This project group was formed on 3 Jul '04. This study is open to both males and females descended from Anabaptist ancestry. This includes Mennonites, Amish, Brethren, Hutterites, etc. As many of our communities have been "separate" (by choice) from the dominant societies in Europe, North America, Central America, and elsewhere, it is expected that we have become genetically unique (in addition to our cultural uniqueness).
For the most accurate results, we are looking for participants who have either maternal-only and/or paternal-only ancestry fitting the above description.
The male-only test for their Y-chromosome will show the paternal-only line (father's father's father, etc.), whereas the Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) test is open to either gender, and will show your maternal-only line (mother's mother's mother, etc.).
