Project Background:
The Lyon(s) DNA Project has been established to discover familial connections between early American, Canadian, South African, and Australian colonial Lyon(s) families and Lyon(s) in Europe.

Project Goals:
1. To connect "unconnected" Lyon(s)lines where paper trails have ended; in North America and Europe (and other continents).

2. To connect with other Lyon(s) families; i.e. Thomas Lyon, Henry Lyon, William Lyon, etc.

Project News:
#1 - Kallmann Lion 1774-1820 of Ettenheim, Baden (Germany).

#4 - John Lyon, b. 1641, Scotland, d. 1683, Dorchester, MD.

#10 - Lyon(s) Descendant #2 - Horace Lyon b. abt. 1805.

#12 - Descended from William Lyon, ("William of Roxbury") who landed in America in 1635 aboard the "Hopewell".
Ancestry goes back to Sir Adam Lyon in England -1285.

#15 - Thomas Lyons b. abt. 1867 in Virginia.

#16 - Richard Lyon, b, 1840/50, Michigan

#18 - Noah Lyon b. c. 1776 in Fayette Co., PA

Project Results:

The collection of a DNA sample may sound like a rather daunting process -
however it is a very simple and painless procedure which is excellently
explained by Dave Dorsey's step by step photographic guide to the whole
process. http://www.davedorsey.com/dna.html

DNA Test Results (Alleles) for Project Members

* Haplogroups in green have been confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have been predicted by Family Tree DNA based on unambiguous results in the individual's personal page. This has been placed on this GAP page for your ease and convenience. Please note that for any predicted results we see no reason for ordering a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. if a – is in the HAPLO field then we feel that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous and if the kit holder wants to know their SNP with 100% confidence they may consider ordering a SNP confirmation test.
