The Cornwell DNA & Ancestry Project began in 2004. The project is open to all participants who have the Cornwell surname or a variation. [When we refer to Cornwell, we are including all variations].
The project is a Y-chromosome DNA surname study. The Y-chromosome only exists in males. It is passed from fathers to sons. To participate you must be Cornwell male or descend directly in an unbroken paternal (male-to-male) line from a Cornwell male. You MUST share your direct Cornwell lineage. Reviewing submitted lineages in conjunction with the DNA results makes a more comprehensive interpretation. We recommend the Y-DNA37 or Y-DNA67 or Y-DNA 111 tests. The project receives a discounted price for tests, so please join the project before you order your test.
Ladies are extremely valuable to our project. Since they can not be tested, they locate and sponsor a male Cornwell relative to participate in the project.
If you are intested in the project, can test or sponsor a relative, you can always donate to the general fund. The general fund has been established to assist in costs. If you would like to donate, please go to http://www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html.
