Project Background:

The Clan Donnachaidh DNA Project invites people of Scottish heritage who bear the three main surnames of our Clan (Duncan, Robertson, Reid) or any of the septs of our clan listed at www.donnachaidhinternational.com to participate in this Y-DNA surname project. We are trying to test the many different family line that are within the Duncan, Robertson, and Reid families. We are looking for participants or sponsors of participants that will participant, provide genealogy information, & correspond with their new DNA matches.

Project Goals:

We hope, through DNA research, in the Family Tree DNA Project, to establish relationships with other Clan members. We encourage members to participate in the 37 marker test which may bring the results within the scope of conventional genealogy. We hope, in the future, to establish a conventional genealogical data bank within the clan to which members may submit their family histories and ultimately confirm potential family relationships that may be uncovered through the DNA testing.

Project News:

We need more men from the still untested Duncan, Robertson, and Reid male lines. We need a lot more men from Scotland and know genealogy connections to Scotland to test. Any help in recruiting new participants is greatly appreciated.

The Donnachaidh Surname DNA Project's "General Fund" is now open to receive donated contributions to help further our DNA project goals. The fund website information is at http://www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html

Project Results:

We now have close to 400 participants in the Donnachaidh DNA Project. Many new connections have been made between men who before testing did not know of one another. The Duncans are coalescing into some well defined subgroups and the Robertsons and Reids have started to do the same.

Results are divided by surname and haplogroup.
