Welcome to the Binkley/Pinkley DNA Project. According to the 1990 Federal Census, Binkley is the 4209th most popular surname and Pinkley is the 18,508th most popular. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau U.S. Census Bureau Search Names.) The Binkleys in America family researchers have found many family groups with various spellings for the Binkley surname. However, no records have been located to connect these families yet. Hopefully, DNA testing will assist in crumbling these brick walls as well as your brick wall.
Only the males with the surname of Binkley/Pinkley (and variant spellings) can be tested. If you aren't male and/or don't carry the surname please assist by locating possible candidates to test, such as a cousin who carries the Binkley/Pinkley surname. Each of you who can't test could also consider contributing financially to those who can. It is recommended that anyone wishing to test to consider at least a 37 marker test as this provides a more accurate match.
In order to find DNA matches, a tester needs to submit his pedigree chart and also allow his DNA to be available to the public. If you select to have your results made public, your results can be linked to YSearch.org to allow for matches with other testing companies.
In order to respect everyone's privacy, please do not expect any dates and locations for living persons to be added to this site. It is also imperative that we post genealogical data that has good documentation to minimize errors. If you share data that is speculative, please clearly state so.

2) To find other Binkley lines that come from other European countries (Switzerland, Germany, or ???)
3) To overcome brick walls for some Binkley and Pinkley researchers who don't have a paper trail to connect themselves back to the earliest known progenitors.
4) To find new cousins in Europe and America with whom they can join forces to further their lineage.

Currently, this project is undergoing revision. Documentation and sources are being requested from the participants to help clarify the various lines.
Group 1 on the Y Results tab (above) appear to be connected to either Peter Binkley, born 1704 in Switzerland, or to Johannes Binggeli born 1695 in Canton Bern, Switzerland. Currently, there are not enough participants from either line to split them apart genetically, nor to determine the genetic signature of Peter (b. 1704) or Johannes (b. 1695). (Genetic signature: What the original genetic numbers were for Peter and Johannes).
Group 2 on the Y Results tab above, appear to be connected to either Hans Michael Binkley, b. 1712 in Switzerland or Johannes Binkley, born 1680 in Switzerland. This group is extremely undersampled and desperately needs many more participants. Right now, it is impossible to determine the genetic signature of either Hans Michael or Johannes.
For those interested in joining, and would like to order a kit, you need to be a male with the surname of Binkley or Pinkley. Your father's father's father's all the way back needs to be Binkley/Pinkley (or a variation or misspelling of the name).
