Background
It is quite likely that many of us, who live close to The Baltic Sea, share a common genetic heritage.
Seafarers, traders, vikings, refugees, and many others have, throughout the ages, crossed The Baltic Sea in a countless number of times.
Many of them did never return to their homeland. Some of them started their new home in a new country, or in an island.
The Baltic Sea also holds the largest archipelago in the world - in number of islands.
Thousands of people live in these islands today, but their ancestors certainly come from somewhere else.
This project was started in February 2006. Project is open to all citizens (and their descendants)

of the states surrounding the Baltic Sea
This formerly abandoned Project (without administrator), since May 1, 2012 has a new administrator.

Stanislaw J. Plewako, 56, Msc in Molecular Genetics 1980, scientific researcher (1980-1991) at
Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of Polish Academy of Sciences.
In his further career Mr. Plewako did not have an opportunity to use his skills as a geneticist,
but his expanding interests turned to genealogy, which brought him back to genetics, as a tool for genealogical research. Mr Plewako (kit number
131251) is
I2a Y-DNA and belongs to
X2e1 mtDNA haplogroup
Administrator can help members of Project to understand what research is needed by rearranging
Y-DNA Classic Chart and
mtDNA Test Results Chart or in each individual case - by e-mail consultation
