Project Background:

All persons with Throop ancestry in North America are believed to descend from William Throope, who married in Barnstable MA on 14 May 1666 Mary Chapman. They had 8 children before dying in Bristol RI.

This William Throope is believed to come from Nottinghamshire ENGLAND. Descendents of William and Isabell (Redshaw) Throope, parents of William Throope of Barnstable, will be welcomed to this project.

Project Goals:

A major goal is to link together the unplaced Throop descendants.

The original research on this family was published in 1905 and 1906 by Winchester Fitch in a serial article "The Throope Family and the Scrope Tradition."

Most recently, Ralph P. Troop published a volume in 2002 entitled "William Throope, English Immigrant of Barnstable, Massachusetts and Bristol, Massachusetts/Rhode Island" which gives descendants in the male lines for 11 generations.
