North Carolina Early 1700's- Background
The North Carolina Early 1700's DNA Project has been created to assist genalogists and historians in exploring history of North Carolina, by locating and documenting the pedigrees, as well as the matching DNA sequences, of those families who settled in that specific geographical area during the 1700's. We will be looking at their family ties, as well as their deep ancestral roots.
Potential members should believe that they are descendants of a family who settled in North Carolina prior to 1800. They will also need to have a direct line descendant who can be DNA tested.
If you wish to join the North Carolina Early 1700's DNA Project, you may both join the project, and order your test kit, by using the “Request to Join This Group” link at the left-hand side of this page.
The North Carolina Early 1700's DNA Project is a dual geographic project, meaning that we have provisons for both the:
Y-DNA testing (paternal line)
mtDNA testing (maternal line)
Direct male line descendants should purchase a Y-DNA test kit (used to test only males).
Direct female line descendants should purchase an mtDNA test kit (used to test both males and females)
If you have already been tested at FTDNA, you may join the North Carolina Early 1700's DNA Project at no additional expense. Just use the “Join” button on your Personal Pages at FTDNA. We are listed under the “N” in the “Dual Geographic” projects.
If you wish to contribute funds towards the North Carolina Early 1700's Project, you may do so by clicking onto the words, “Contribute to the Surname Project General Fund” link on the left-hand side of this page.
