The Motz/Stubbs Family Project was started Dec 2006. MY father (Walter Ross Stubbs) was adopted by Frank George Motz hence the name "Motz/Stubbs project". My connection to the Stubbs family was confirmed through DNA testing and indicated that my true grandfather was Walter R Stubbs (born in 1879). This project is primarily interested in the decedents of John Stubbs of Cappahosic, Gloucester Co., Virginia, USA, and welcomes all who are interested in finding their common heritage through sharing of information and DNA testing. How to Join the Motz/Stubbs DNA Project:
A. Never been tested? (Not with Family Tree DNA or Genographic Project):
Just click on the link labeled "Join this Project" in the upper left hand corner of this page. This will send you to a page where you can fill out the form to join and order a test kit. The 37 marker test kit is recommended as it provides the necessary level of results for comparison.
B. Tested with Family Tree DNA:
Go to your Family Tree DNA personal page and click on the blue icon labeled "Join." (This is next to your name and kit number, at the top of the page.) This will bring you to a page with the title "Group Join." Type "Motz" in the search engine and click to go to a page which will allow you to join the Motz DNA Project.
C. Tested with National Geographic (Genographic Project members):
Anyone who has been tested by the Genographic Project can upload their results for free to Family Tree DNA and then join projects. To upload your results to Family Tree DNA, go to your Genographic Project "Results" page. At the bottom of that page it says "To learn more about your family history..." Click on that and follow the steps and your results will be added to Family Tree DNA's database. Then use the instructions above (for Current Family Tree DNA Customers), to join the Motz/Stubbs DNA Project. (Family Tree DNA customers may also upload their results to the Genographic Project. This will allow you to include your results in the five year international study. There is a $15 charge to upload either your Y-DNA or mt-DNA results to the Genographic Project. Look for the "Genographic Project" tab on your Family Tree DNA personal page to upload your results.)
