Project Background:

After many years of researching the Lorimer lines and corresponding with researchers from around the world, I felt that it was time to take the research on to a new level. DNA will help us determine if the spelling variations are related. Who are our common ancestors and what were their migration patterns? Can the brick walls be broken? Lets give it a try!!

Project Goals:

This project is an attempt to allow Lorimer descendants, all variations, from all over the world a chance to come together and try to determine who their common Lorimer ancestors were. Samples submited for this project must be provided by males, with the Lorimer surname. This project is based on the Y-Chromosome which is passed from father to son. Ladies, please have your dad, brother, or male Lorimer uncle or cousin provide a DNA sample.

Halogroup Definition

I Haplogroup I dates to 23,000 years ago or longer. Lineages not in branches I1a, I1b or I1c are found distributed at low frequency throughout Europe.

I1b The Balkan countries likely harbored this subgroup of I during the Last Glacial Maximum. Today, this branch is found distributed in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, and extends further east with Slavic-speaking populations.
