Project Background:

This project was launched on August 1, 2006 for members of Haplogroup G to find others and to compare haplotypes and paternal origins for relatedness. We also offer a private online discussion group exclusively for members of Haplogroup G and their representatives, which serves to foster additional communication between members as they explore potential close relationships. Members of Haplogroup G or their representatives may contact the Group Administrator for invitation to this group to further explore our relatedness.

Project Goals:

Allow members of Haplogroup G who have had their Y-DNA tested and their haplogroup identified by Family Tree DNA to compare their haplotypes and paternal origins for relatedness.

Project News:

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 17, 2007
To measure usage, a web counter has been added to the Project Background page. Every access of the project public page will increment this counter.

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 17, 2006
To simplify grouping by Paternal Country of Origin, members with unknown paternal origin are included with "Unassigned Members" at the end of the Y Results section.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2006
To maximize genetic matches, the members' preferences are set to allow matches to all surnames.

To reduce page load time, the project public page is now displayed in sections. Please use the tab selection at the top for the section of your interest. Expect the Y Results section to take a long time to load!

Project Results:

Members are grouped by their Paternal Country of Origin from their profile at FTDNA. Within each group, the most closely matched members are adjacent. FTDNA Kit number is a surrogate for when the first Y-DNA test was performed, i.e., lower numbers are older tests. A map at the bottom of the Y Results section of the public page displays the members' paternal origins.
